Preface: Money is an anchor, holding us down from progess. Unless you already have loads of it - Then it's probably more like a diesel engine, possibly made of jewels.
Anyway,
A friend of mine just told me about the "Friends in TV" networking site, because he's seen me crying on other certain networking sites about my lack of finding success. As a result, I currently have a profile there pending approval, with this brutally honest description:
"I've worked in all aspects of professional TV, as well as my own creative
projects. This ranges from PA work for The History Channel, and single handedly
writing, directing, animating, editing, and providing the cast for an animated
series. I'm currently selling women's clothes in Park Slope, Brooklyn for $8.00
an hour while looking for full-time dishwashing jobs so I can survive. Time to
fix that!"
At least I showed enthusiasm by using an exclaimation point, and support for the website by implying that, by joining it, my entire world is going to change.
In other related news, I had a job interview with B&H today. The truth is I applied for so many jobs, I didn't actually remember what I was applying for. Sales Associate in the retail store? As it turns out, it was a copywriter/product description writer job - which I'm completely capable of doing. Unfortunately, I don't have a whole lot of writing samples that can be shown. Time to fix that(this may or may not be the reason for my sudden, long blog post)!
The end.
